Wall Street Indexes fall amid fears of Coronavirus Spread

The three main US stock indices fell today amid widespread selling as investors flee shares, amid growing concerns about the spread of the Corona virus, to hit the S&P 500 index, the worst week in six months.

The S&P 500 saw its biggest one-day drop in more than three months, and the Dow and S&P ended their worst week since August, after the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention confirmed the second case of the virus in the United States in Chicago.

The Dow Jones industrial average fell 170.36 points, or 0.58%, to 28989.73 points, the Standard & Poor's 500 index declined by 30.09 points, or 0.90%, to 3,295.45 points, and the Nasdaq Composite Index fell 87.57 points, or 0.93%, to 9314.91 points.
