The United States extends tariff exemptions on some Chinese groups until the end of 2023
Data released by the office of US Trade Representative Catherine Tay showed that the United States extended China's Section 301 tariff exemptions on 352 Chinese imports and 77 COVID-19-related categories through Dec. 31 that were set to expire on Sept. 30.
Exemptions from import duties include industrial components such as pumps, electric motors, some auto parts, chemicals, bicycles and vacuum cleaners, and exceptions related to the Corona virus include medical products such as face masks, examination gloves and hand sanitizing wipes.
U.S. Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo said she does not anticipate any adjustments to U.S. tariffs on China until the U.S. Trade Representative's office completes the review. Tai's office said in a statement that the extension through Dec. 31, 2023, would allow for further consideration as part of a four-year legal review.
