US Unemployment claims fall to lowest level since last April
Unemployment benefit claims in the United States fell to their lowest level in nine months last week, indicating that the labor market will continue to maintain the longest economic expansion in history despite weak trade investment.
The US Department of Labor said today that jobless claims in the United States have fallen by 15,000 to reach 202,000 seasonally adjusted requests for the week ending February 1, the lowest reading since last April.
Analysts had expected US jobless claims to fall to 215,000 last week, and the weekly average for US jobless claims fell by 4,000 by 3,000 to 211,750 last week, which is also the lowest level since last April.
