GBP falls despite the rise in inflation
The pound fell today below $ 1.30, its lowest level in more than a week despite an unexpected rise in inflation in the United Kingdom, where inflation rose to a six-month high in January.
The pound fell against the US dollar today by 0.6% to 1.2920 dollars, as the British pound fell against the European single currency by a similar amount, reaching 83.40 pence.
The data showed that UK consumer prices increased at an annual rate of 1.8% during the month of January compared to the 1.3% recorded in December and analysts had expected consumer prices to record 1.6% in January.
