IMF and World Bank confirm readiness to face the economic challenges of Coronavirus
The International Monetary Fund and the World Bank said today that they are ready to help countries meet the humanitarian and economic challenges of the outbreak of the Corona virus, explaining that international cooperation is necessary to deal with the health and economic impacts of the virus and stressing that they are fully committed to supporting these efforts.
The two institutions made clear in a joint statement that they focus specifically on poor countries where health systems are weaker, and urged member states to strengthen health monitoring and response systems to contain the virus.
The International Monetary Fund confirmed that it has a set of facilities and tools in its toolkit to help countries respond to the economic effects of the Corona virus, as the International Monetary Fund can increase existing lending programs to meet urgent needs related to the outbreak of the virus.
