Mnuchin urges Congress to pass $ 2 trillion for stimulus
US Treasury Secretary Stephen Mnuchin on Tuesday urged the Senate to pass a two-trillion-dollar economic relief bill, saying it would prevent small companies, airlines and other companies from shedding workers.
"This is a huge liquidity program," Mnuchin told Fox Business Network in an interview, explaining that a package of nearly $ 2 trillion, along with measures taken by the Federal Reserve, would provide $ 4 trillion in potential liquidity in the market.
Manuchin stressed that people and companies can get the money within the next two or three weeks and said that the proposed plan will provide government loans to small companies that have 500 employees or less to pay two months of salaries.
