US stocks rise with the easing of closures
The three main indices of American stocks rose with the rise of health-care stocks and the rise in oil prices, with optimism about global demand for crude after the easing of the economic shutdown in the United States.
Pfizer shares rose 2.4% after it said it had started providing doses of a pilot coronavirus vaccine for human testing and shares of REGN.O rose 6.0% after it said that a coronavirus vaccine might be available for use by the end of the summer.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 133.33 points, or 0.56% to 23,883.09 points, the Standard & Poor's 500 Index rose 25.7 points, or 0.90%, to 2,688.84 points, and the Nasdaq Composite Index rose 98.41 points, or 1.13%, to 8,809.12 points.
