US capital goods orders fell in April
US Commerce Department said today that non-defense capital goods orders excluding aircrafts fell 5.8% in April from 1.1% in March and analysts had expected basic capital goods orders to fall 10.0% in April.
On an annual basis, orders for basic capital goods decreased by 1.3% during the twelve months to April compared to the same period last year, and shipments of basic capital goods declined by 5.4% in April compared to 1.2% in March.
Durable goods orders declined by 17.2% in April after falling by 16.6% in March, demand for transportation equipment decreased by 47.3% in April and orders for automobiles and parts decreased by 52.8% in April
