US stocks Drop with Escalation of Coronavirus cases
The three main US stock indices fell today, one day after the S&P 500 posted its longest streak of gains this year, after a record high for new cases of coronavirus Covid 19.
As large parts of the United States reported tens of thousands of new infections with the coronavirus, and New York expanded quarantine to travel to visitors from three other states after recording a record high in new cases.
The Dow Jones industrial average fell 396.85 points, 1.51% to 25,890.18 points, the Standard & Poor's 500 Index fell 34.4 points, or 1.08%, to 3,145.32 points, and the Nasdaq Composite Index fell 89.76 points, or 0.86%, to 10,343.89 points.
