GBP rises against the USD after economic data
The pound rose against the dollar today by 0.4% to hit the pound sterling 1.2789 dollars as the sterling rose against the euro by 0.1% to record the European single currency 90.965 pence, after economic data and Johnson's statements.
Prime Minister Boris Johnson said he believed Britain would end the coronary virus crisis as Covid 19 by mid-2021, but he feared a second wave of the epidemic could overwhelm health services.
The data showed that economic activity in Britain rose to 57.1 points in July from 47.7 points in June, the highest level in five years in addition to retail sales recovering for the second month in a row to pre-epidemic levels.
