Job opportunities in the United States rise in July
The US Department of Labor said that the job opportunities available in the United States increased by 617 thousand jobs to 6.6 million jobs in July, compared to 6 million jobs in June. Analysts had expected that job opportunities would rise to 6.05 million jobs in July.
Employment decreased by 1.183 million jobs to 5.8 million in July, with employment in the accommodation and food services sector decreased by 599 thousand jobs, and in health care and social assistance decreased by 137 thousand jobs.
The US economy added 1.371 million jobs in August after adding 1.734 million in July, thus recovering about 10.6 million of the 22.2 million jobs lost due to the coronavirus pandemic, Covid-19.
