ECB's Growing Concern About Economic Growth
Today's European Central Bank meeting minutes showed that the bank is more concerned about the economy hit by the coronavirus pandemic than ever before with a lot of concerns indicating the possibility of further stimulus later this year.
Policymakers have expressed their concern over a long list of risks, represented by a strong euro and a rise in coronavirus cases, in addition to the US presidential elections and Britain’s exit from the European Union, which all affect growth and consumer prices.
The meeting minutes added, "The case was presented in order to preserve freedom of action in light of the growing uncertainty, which reinforces the need for accurate evaluation of all information received, including the euro exchange rate, and to maintain flexibility in taking appropriate policy measures when needed."
