Barnier sets priorities for British trade deal after Brexit
Michel Barnier, the EU's chief negotiator, told EU leaders he would make the new British trade deal with the EU a priority after Britain leaves the European Union, the Financial Times reported, citing sources familiar with a closed-door meeting in Strasbourg. It will not be enough to negotiate a trade agreement, but stressed that Brussels will strive to reach an agreement by the end of 2020. Barnier added that cooperation with the UK in the field of security and defense was a top priority for the EU during the For negotiations.
