US Unemployment claims fall to lowest level in three months
The US Labor Department said today that US jobless claims fell by 111,000 to 730,000 seasonally adjusted for the week ending February 20, the lowest level since November. Analysts had expected US jobless claims to register 838,000 applications last week, and the weekly average of US jobless claims during the four weeks declined by 20,500,000 to 807.75,000.
Continuing jobless claims fell by 101,000 to 4,419 million for the week ending February 13, and the US economy grew by 4.1% in the fourth quarter of 2020 after falling 33.4% in the third quarter.
