G20 pledges not to slow down stimulus
Today, G20 leaders agreed to maintain expansionary policies to help economies affected by the coronavirus pandemic and commit to a more multilateral approach to dealing with the virus and economic crises.
They also discussed how to help the world's poorest countries whose economies have been disproportionately affected by the crisis. "We agreed on the necessity of avoiding any early withdrawal of financial and monetary support," Italian Finance Minister Daniele Franco told a news conference after the videoconference held by the G20 finance ministers and central bank governors.
In a statement, the Italian Presidency affirmed that the G20 "is committed to increasing international coordination to face the current global challenges by adopting a stronger multilateral approach and focusing on a set of basic priorities."
