POWELL: We see maximum employment as a broad, overarching goal
"The economy is opening up again, which brings stronger economic activity and job creation," Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell said today in prepared remarks at a conference of the National Alliance for Community Reinvestment. "This is a high-level perspective and from this point of view we see improvement but we must also take a look at what is happening at street level," Powell added, adding that conditions are changing rapidly as more than 900,000 jobs were added in March.
“We view maximum employment as a broad and overarching goal,” Powell said, reiterating the new priority the US central bank has given to encouraging more job growth in light of the risks of higher inflation.
