Britain is calling for progress with the European Union on Northern Ireland trade
David Frost, the minister responsible for relations with the European Union, said he wants the European Union to fulfill its obligations under the Brexit deal on resolving the Northern Ireland border puzzle after Brexit. British Prime Minister Boris Johnson, who promised there would be unrestricted trade between Northern Ireland and the rest of the United Kingdom, unilaterally extended the grace period on some checks to reduce supply disruptions, a move Brussels said breached the Brexit deal.
Irish Prime Minister Michel Martin said separately that he wanted the deal to work, adding that he did not get an immediate sense from his meeting with Johnson that London wanted to rewrite the trading arrangements as reported this week in the Irish media.
