US Stocks Rise after Fed Comments
The three major US equity indices rose today after comments from Fed officials and easing inflation concerns helped keep 10-year US Treasury yields below 1.6%. Federal Reserve Vice President Randall Quarles said he was prepared to open talks on limiting the central bank's emergency support measures, and several Fed officials have also commented in recent days on inflation and asserting that the Fed is seen as fleeting and has the tools needed if it begins to rise .
The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 10.59 points, or 0.03%, to 34,323.05 points, the Standard & Poor's 500 Index rose by 7.86 points, or 0.19% to 4,195.99 points, and the Nasdaq Composite Index rose 80.82 points, or 0.59% to 13,738.00 points.
