Wall Street rises to a record high with the passage of the Infrastructure Act
The Dow Jones Industrial Average and the Standard & Poor's 500 Index rose to record levels today after the Senate passed an infrastructure bill while the Nasdaq Composite Index fell. The bill is the nation's largest investment in decades in roads, bridges, airports and waterways, and senators have also begun voting on a follow-up spending package of $3.5 trillion that Democrats plan to pass without Republican votes.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 172.17 points, or 0.49%, to 35,274.02 points, and the Standard & Poor's index rose 6.56 points, or 0.15%, to 4,438.91 points, while the Nasdaq Composite Index fell 73.34 points, or 0.49%, to 14,786.84 points.
