Industrial activity in Canada rose to a four-month high in August
Data released by Markit Corporation today showed that the manufacturing purchasing managers' index in Canada rose to 57.2 points in August from 56.2 points in July, the highest level since last April and the 14th consecutive month of growth above the 50 point level. The future production index rose to 66.7 points in August from 63.1 points in July, and the input price index rose to its highest level at 77.2 points in August from 72.0 points in July.
The measure of new orders for the manufacturing PMI in Canada rose to 55.8 points in August compared to 55.3 points in July, and the purchasing inventories index rose to 53.7 points in August from 52.8 points in July.
