US jobless claims at 18-month low

The US Labor Department said today that US jobless claims fell by 35,000 to a seasonally adjusted 310,000 for the week ending September 4, the lowest level since mid-March 2020. Analysts had expected US jobless claims to record 335,000 applications last week, and unadjusted claims fell by 8005 to 284,287 last week.

Continuing jobless claims in the United States fell by 22,000 to 2.783 million in the week ending August 28, the lowest level since mid-March 2020.
