US consumer sentiment stabilizes in September
The University of Michigan survey showed that the consumer confidence index in the United States rose to 71 points in the first half of September, compared to 70.3 points in August, which was the lowest reading since December 2011. The future expectations index of the survey rose to 67.1 points in September compared to 65.1 points in August, which was the lowest since 2013, while the measure of current conditions fell to 77.1 points in September compared to 78.5 points in August.
The survey expected that one-year inflation would record 4.7% in September to match the July reading, which was the highest since 2008, compared to 4.6% in August and the five-year forecast settled at 2.9% in September.
