The British economy fell for the fourth consecutive month in September
Data released by Markit Corporation today showed that the composite Purchasing Managers' Index, which combines the industrial and service sectors in the United Kingdom, fell for the fourth consecutive month to 54.1 points in September from 54.8 points in August, the lowest level since February.
The services purchasing managers' index fell to 54.6 points in September from 55.0 points in August, the lowest level since last February, and business expectations for the services sector fell to the lowest level in nine months. The Markit survey data added that the UK manufacturing purchasing managers' index fell to 56.3 points in September from 60.3 points in August, the lowest level since February.
