US jobless claims fall below 300,000 for third week in a row
The US Labor Department said today that US jobless claims fell by 10,000 to a seasonally adjusted 281,000 for the week ending October 23, the lowest level since mid-March 2020. US jobless claims fell below 300 thousand for the third week in a row, and analysts had expected that US jobless claims would rise to 290 thousand applications last week.
Continuing jobless claims in the United States fell by 237,000 to 2.243 million in the week ending October 16, the lowest level for continuing jobless claims in 19 months.
