US factory orders unexpectedly rise in September
The US Commerce Department said today that US factory orders rose 0.2% in September versus 1.0% in August after a downward revision, instead of the previously reported 1.2%. On an annualized basis, US factory orders rose 17.6% in the twelve months to September, and shipments rose 0.6% in September after rising 0.1% in August.
The data showed that US factory inventories rose 0.8% in September, and unfilled factory orders rose 0.7% in September after rising 0.9% in August.
