US stocks fall after Powell's comments
Today, the three major US stock indexes fell more than 1% after Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell said that the risks of higher inflation had increased and that it was appropriate to consider ending bond purchases a few months ago. Banking stock (.SPXBK) fell 1.6%, the small Russell 2000 index (.RUT) decreased by 2.0%, the S&P 1500 Airlines (.SPCOMAIR) index decreased by 2.7%, and also the S&P 1500 index of hotels, restaurants and entertainment (.SPCOMHRL) decreased by 2.1 % .
The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 504.51 points, or 1.44%, to 3,461.43 points, the Standard & Poor's 500 index fell 64.65 points, or 1.39%, to 4590.62 points, and the Nasdaq Composite Index fell 231.66 points, or 1.47%, to 15,551.17 points.
