US job opportunities rise to 11 million in October
Data today showed that job opportunities in the United States rose by 431,000 jobs to 11.0 million jobs in October as accommodation and food services added 254 thousand jobs and the non-durable goods manufacturing industry added 45 thousand jobs.
Employment fell by 82 thousand jobs to 6.5 million jobs in October, and the US economy had added 210 thousand jobs in November after adding 546 thousand in October, and the unemployment rate fell to 4.2%, its lowest level in 21 months. The data showed that layoffs fell by 35 thousand to 1.361 million, keeping the layoff rate unchanged at 0.9% for the third month in a row, and lending operations fell by 205 thousand to 4 million in October.
