Yellen calls on Biden administration to drop some tariffs on China

US Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen confirmed that she is calling on the Biden administration to cancel some tariffs on Chinese imports that are not very strategic but are harmful to US consumers and businesses. Yellen said in a press conference ahead of the meeting of the Group of Seven finance ministers and central bank governors that internal discussions are underway regarding the punitive "Article 301" tariffs imposed by former US President Donald Trump on hundreds of billions of dollars in Chinese goods. Referring to unfair trade practices and national security issues, Yellen said, "Some of them seem to me to do more harm to consumers and businesses and are not very strategic in terms of addressing the real issues we have with China."
