Core capital goods orders in the US below expectations in April
The US Commerce Department said core capital goods orders in the US rose 0.3% in April after rising 1.1% in March, and on an annualized basis, core capital goods orders rose 10.0% in April. Shipments of core capital goods, which are used to calculate equipment spending as a gauge of gross domestic product, rose 0.8% in April after rising 0.2% in March.
Durable goods orders rose 0.4% in April versus 0.6% in March, durable goods shipments rose 0.1% in April after rising 1.4% in March, and non-packaged durable goods orders rose 0.5% in April.
