US consumer confidence declines in May
The US Conference Board's poll issued by the "Conference Board" showed that the consumer confidence index in the United States fell to 106.4 points in May, compared to 108.6 in April, after adjusting for an increase instead of 107.3 points previously.
Consumer inflation expectations over the next twelve months fell to 7.4% in May from 7.5% in April, and the so-called difference in the labor market fell to 39.3 points in May from 44.7 points in April. The Federal Reserve has raised its policy rate by 75 basis points since March, and the US central bank is expected to raise its overnight interest rate by half a percentage point at each of its upcoming meetings in June and July.
