US jobless claims fall for second week in a row
The US Department of Labor said today that jobless claims in the United States fell by 11 thousand to a seasonally adjusted 200 thousand for the week ending May 28, which is the second weekly decline in a row. Analysts had expected that US jobless claims will rise to 210 thousand applications last week, and claims for unemployment benefits fell significantly in Pennsylvania, Kentucky, Georgia and Florida.
Continuing jobless claims fell by 34 thousand to 1.309 million during the week ending May 21, which is the lowest level for continuous jobless claims since December 1969.
