UK, France & Germany formally accuse Iran of violating nuclear deal
UK, France and Germany today formally accused Iran of violating the terms of its 2015 nuclear agreement to curb its nuclear program, which could eventually lead to the reimposition of UN sanctions lifted under the agreement.
The countries launched the "dispute mechanism" of the deal, which amounted to an official accusation that Iran violated the terms of the agreement, and European powers said that they are acting to avoid a crisis over nuclear proliferation, which increases the escalating confrontation in the Middle East, but Iran rejected this step as a "strategic mistake."
The three countries also confirmed that they still want the success of the nuclear deal with Tehran and did not join the campaign of "maximum pressure" by the administration of US President Donald Trump, which abandoned the agreement in 2018 and imposed economic sanctions on Iran.
