Eurozone investor sentiment rises in August

The Sentix survey showed that investor sentiment in the euro zone rose to -25.2 points in August from -26.4 points in July. Analysts had expected investor sentiment to record -24.7 points in August. The Sentix index of the current situation in the euro area rose to -16.3 points in August from -16.5 points in July, and the index of future expectations rose to -33.8 points in August.

"The economic situation in the euro area remains difficult," Manfred Huebner, managing director of Syntex, said in a statement, adding that the slight rise did not indicate all clarity and said that "a recession in the euro area is still very likely," citing weak consumer confidence, inflation and energy prices.
