The US service sector slowed slightly in September
The US Institute of Supply Management (ISM) said that its services purchasing managers' index fell to 56.7 points in September from 56.9 points in August, and analysts had expected the US service sector to decline to 56.0 points in September.
The employment gauge in the services sector rose to 53.0 points in September from 50.2 points in August, while the new orders index fell to 60.6 points in September from 61.8 points in August. The ISM survey's measure of supplier delivery fell to 53.9 points in September from 54.5 points in August, and the measure of prices paid by service industries for inputs fell to 68.7 points in September, the lowest reading since January 2021.
