Wall Street rises after US inflation data
The three major indices of US stocks rose, with the Standard & Poor's 500 index gaining 2.76%, hitting a three-month high after US inflation data. US consumer prices rose moderately below expectations for the second month in a row, and growing expectations of a smaller and slower interest rate hike from the Federal Reserve sent US Treasury yields sharply lower.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 103.6 points, or 0.3%, to 34,108.64 points, and the Standard & Poor's 500 index rose by 29.09 points, or 0.73%, to 4,019.65 points. The Nasdaq Composite Index also rose 113.08 points, or 1.01%, to 11,256.81 points.
