Inflation in Spain is at its lowest pace this year in December
Data issued by the National Institute of Statistics showed that consumer prices in Spain rose by 5.8% in December, its slowest annual pace this year, and on an annual basis, core inflation reached 6.9% in December, and the 12-month inflation rate in Spain, coordinated with the European Union, reached 5.6. % in December, down from 6.7% in November.
"We did a very positive reading, five points in five months, core inflation takes longer to fall because it took longer to rise," Economics Minister Nadia Calvino said in an interview with SER TV. Earlier this week, Spain approved the third major package of measures this year to mitigate the effects of inflation, including value-added tax cuts on basic foodstuffs and a 200-euro bonus for families with an annual income of less than 27,000 euros.
