The International Monetary Fund raises its growth forecast for 2023
The International Monetary Fund raised its forecast for global growth for the year 2023 to 2.9% instead of 2.7% in the October forecast, compared to a growth of 3.4% in 2022, and it also predicted that the global economy would grow by 3.1% in 2024. The International Monetary Fund said it now expects US gross domestic product to grow by 1.4% in 2023, up from the 1.0% forecast in October and after 2.0% growth in 2022.
It also predicted that the euro area would grow by 0.7% in 2023 instead of 0.5%. % in the October forecast, after a growth of 3.5% in 2022. The International Monetary Fund revised China's growth forecast to 5.2% in 2023 from 4.4% in the October forecast, after coronavirus lockdowns in 2022 lowered China's growth rate to 3.0%.
