European stocks decline, amid fears of the Coronavirus
European stocks fell today amid fears of a new Coronavirus outbreak that killed six people in China, despite positive news about business sentiment in Germany and easing trade tensions between the United States and France.
The STOXX 600 index across Europe fell 0.1%, after falling to 1% earlier in the session before data from German business confidence and trade dialogue between US and French leaders helped alleviate some losses.
The STOXX 600 reached a record high last week as the easing of trade tensions between the United States and China and the improvement of economic indicators increased hopes for faster global economic growth.
