The US dollar rose to its highest level in seven weeks
The US dollar rose to its highest level in two months against the Japanese yen and rose against the Swiss franc to its highest level in seven weeks. The main dollar index, which measures the performance of the US currency against 6 major currencies, rose 0.6% to 105.20, its highest level in seven weeks.
The US dollar rose against the Japanese yen by 1.3% to 136.41 yen, the US dollar rose against the Swiss franc by 0.7% to 0.9406 francs, and the British pound fell against the US dollar by 0.60% to 1.1951 dollars. The data showed that the personal consumption expenditures price index increased by 0.6% in January after rising by 0.2% in December, and on an annual basis, the personal consumption expenditures price index increased by 5.4% in January after rising by 5.3% in December.
