The US dollar rose to its highest level in more than a week
The US dollar rose against the major currencies to its highest level in more than a week, as it recorded its highest level in a week against the British pound, as well as its highest level in a month against the euro after the US data.
The main dollar index, which measures the performance of the US currency against 6 major currencies, rose 0.7% to 102.06, its highest level in more than a week. The pound sterling fell against the US dollar by 0.9%, to $1.2497, its lowest level in a week, and the euro fell against the US dollar, by 0.6%, to $1.09, its lowest level in a month.
