Dow Jones and Standard & Poor's rise with the support of Meta shares
The three major US stock indices rose today, and Meta Platforms Inc (META.O) stock rose as one of the best boosters for both the Nasdaq and the S&P 500 after Loop Capital upgraded it to "buy" from "hold".
Shares of Western Digital Corp. (WDC.O) rose after data that the memory chip maker and its Japanese partner Kioxia Holdings Corp. are speeding up merger talks, while Oneok Inc (OKE.N) slipped after agreeing Sunday to buy US pipeline operator Magellan Midstream Partners. (MMP.N) in a deal worth $18.8 billion.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 55.85 points, or 0.17%, to 33,356.47 points. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index rose by 12.43 points, or 0.31%, to 4,136.51 points. The Nasdaq Composite Index rose 80.47 points, or 0.66%, to 12,365.21 points.
