US stocks rise as Tesla stocks rise
The three main indices of US stocks rose today, with the rise in Tesla shares and the rise in bank shares after increasing dividends, and the Nasdaq Composite Index recorded its largest gain in the first half in 40 years, as it rose by 31.7%.
Shares of Tesla (TSLA.O) rose 6.9% as the electric vehicle maker said it delivered a record number of vehicles in the second quarter, the S&P 500 Banking Index (.SPXBK) rose 1.5%, and Wells Fargo (WFC.N) rose 1.0%. 1.7%, and Citigroup (CN) rose 1.5%.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 10.87 points, or 0.03%, to 34,418.47 points. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index rose by 5.21 points, or 0.12%, to 4,455.59 points. The Nasdaq Composite Index rose 28.85 points, or 0.21%, to 13,816.77 points.
