US private sector added 497 thousand jobs in June
Data showed that the US private sector, ADP, added 497 thousand jobs in June after adding 267 thousand jobs in May, and the US economy is expected to add 225 thousand jobs in June after adding 339 thousand jobs in May.
Available jobs in the United States fell by 496,000 to 9.824 million in May, the lowest level since April 2021. Layoffs declined in May, and 4.0 million people quit their jobs, an increase of 250,000 from April.
A report from global staffing firm Challenger Gray & Christmas showed layoffs totaled 40,709 in June, down 49% from May, as companies planned to lay off 187,793 in the second quarter, down 31% from the first quarter.
